Armistice 100

Today marks 100 years since the end of the First World War, with the nation coming together in silence at 11am to remember the men and women who gave their life for their country.

Villagers turned out in their droves on Sunday to thank and recognise all of those that lost their lives or have been affected through war over the last 100 years. Waddington Methodist Church and St Helens Church held a joint service at St Helens Church and then paraded down to the cenotaph to mark the event for the eleventh hour of the eleventh month rememebering those from Waddington and all over the world that have lost their lives in war.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them"

(From 'For the Fallen')
